CHARLOTTE, NC – Christopher Newport’s cheerleading squad successfully defended its conference cheerleading championship Sunday.
The Captains were winners in 2007-2008 and brought home the hardware for the second straight season.
The championship was held in conjunction with the CHEERSPORT Charlotte Grand Championship.
The sport went almost a decade without a competition. The USA South approved the reinstitution of the championship last year. The Captains will perform their winning routine during halftime of both the women’s and men’s basketball championship games at Christopher Newport Saturday, February 28.
