Field Hockey Falls To Cortland in Sweet 16, 4-2

SALISBURY, Md. - Two late goals by Cortland broke a 2-2 tie and propelled the Red Dragons to a 4-2 win over CNU in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA field hockey tournament Saturday.

Cortland broke on top with a goal by Christine McCabe just 44 seconds into the match.

But CNU tied it in the 16th minute when Paige Childers knocked a rebound off the goalie in to the right corner.

Just 3:15 into the second half Taylor Harrell gave the Captains the lead with an assist to Katelyn Yandle, but a penalty stroke by Cortlan d's McCabe tied it again in the 41st minute.

The Red Dragons tallied in the 58th and 66th minutes to seal the win.

Unbeaten Cortland is now 19-0, while the Captains finish their season 16-4.
