Men’s Tennis Falls 9-0 At No. 1 Emory

ATLANTA, GA – Christopher Newport's men's tennis squad was swept 9-0 by No. 1 Emory Sunday afternoon.

In doubles, the Atlantic South's No. 1 team of Chris and Michael Goodwin defeated Dusty Nelson and Eric Shulman (CNU), ranked seventh in the region, 8-6, at No. 1; Mark Boren and David Caplan, ranked third in the region, defeated John Braig and Lorenzo Sison (CNU) 8-2; and Oliver Lopp and Chris Jordan defeated Martin Brown and Thomas Whaling (CNU) 8-4 at No. 3.

In singles action, No. 10 Boren defeated No. 7 Shulman (CNU) 6-3, 6-1; Colin Egan defeated Sison (CNU) 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2; Lopp defeated Nelson (CNU) 6-2 , 7-6 (7-5); Chris Redmond defeated Brown (CNU) 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4; Caplan defeated Braig (CNU) 6-2, 6-2 and Philipp Overdiek defeated Dylan Young  (CNU) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.

The Eagles are now 15-1 on the year while the Captains fall to 9-10. CNU returns to action Thursday when they travel to Mary Washington with start time set for 4 pm.
