SEWANEE, TN – Christopher Newport’s women’s tennis squad slipped past Sewanee, 19-17, Saturday afternoon.
The Captains and the Tigers met Saturday for the first time ever in women’s lacrosse. CNU got out to a 12-9 lead at the break and held on for the two-goal win.
Meghan Harkey led the Captains with a career-high seven goals. Chrissy Rogers finished with a career-best six scores.
Both teams finished with 33 shots and Gayle Robinson totaled seven saves in the cage.
Sewanee finishes the year 8-5 while the Captains are now 12-5. CNU can tie the record for most wins in a season Sunday when they take on Birmingham-Southern at 12 pm.
