NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport’s women’s tennis squad defeated Ferrum, 7-2, Sunday afternoon on the CNU Courts.

In singles action, Kayla Connor (CNU) defeated Brittany Rodgers 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1; Alannah Suchomel (CNU) defeated Angelina Baaklini 6-0, 6-1; Kassi Avent (CNU) defeated Kiawna Berry 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3; Heather Marshall defeated Megan Brooks (CNU) 6-1, 6-2; Dana Burns (CNU) defeated Morgan Moran 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5; and Mary Ann Feeney (CNU) defeated Lea McMillan 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9).

In doubles play, Connor and Suchomel (CNU) defeated Rodgers and Berry 8-4; Marshall and Baaklini defeated Avent and Brooks (CNU) 8-3 at No. 2; and Burns and Feeney (CNU) defeated Moran and Cameron Kolinski 8-3.

The Panthers are now 1-9 on the year and 1-5 in conference play. The Captains improve to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in USA South play.

Christopher Newport returns to action Monday when they travel to Goucher with start time set for 2 pm.
