SALISBURY, MD – Christopher Newport’s softball squad lost its first game of the NCAA Regional Friday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Lynchburg.
The only run of the game came when the Hornets Rachel Gallagher led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run.
Both teams had four hits. Kristin Nickloy, Emily Garcia, Megan Morris and Jennifer Falin all had one hit each for the Captains.
Kristen Rowe tossed a complete game, allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out six. She’s now 20-3 in the circle.
Lynchburg improves to 38-7-1 while CNU falls to 36-8. Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday when they take on Salisbury at 12 pm in an elimination game.
