NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopoher Newport had several fine performances on the first day of the CNU Invitational Friday at the Freeman Center.
Freshman
Richard Roethel bettered his NCAA Division III provisional qualifying height in the high jump, and became No. 2 on CNU's all-time list, by winning the event at 6-8 1/4.
Sophomore
Dira Hansen also earned a provisional qualifier in the pentathlon, and improved her No. 7 mark all time at CNU, by recording 3004 points. In thre process, she set a PR of 2:22.97 in the 800.
The women's distance medley relay team of
Amy Wampler, Miichelle Stauffer, Hansen and
Jade Zaharoff set a new school record of 12:55.18 and freshman Kalee Hammerton became No. 10 all-time at CNU in the women's pole vault, clearing 7-1.
The meet continues Saturday.
