NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport University Director of Athletics C.J. Woollum and Field Hockey Coach Carrie Moura today announced the release of the school's 2010 schedule.

The Captains are coming off a tremendously successful 2009 season that saw them advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year.

“Our schedule for the fall will again be very competitive,” Moura said. “There are plenty of schools you'll find in the Top 20 nationally, and we're continuing great regional rivalries with Salisbury and Lynchburg.”

The Captains open the season on Wednesday, September 1st, hosting Randolph-Macon at 6 pm at Captains Field.

The 2010 regular-season schedule will also include home contests with Rhodes, Lynchburg, Frostburg State, Kenyon and Bridgewater.

CNU was 16-4 last year, which matched the highest win total in program history. CNU field hockey has posted an 84-24 record (.778 winning percentage) over the last six seasons.
