Tomlin Named NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee

Former CNU field hockey player Kim Tomlin selected as the Division III Independents honoree for the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – CNU alumna Kim Tomlin has been selected as the Division III Independent's nomination for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Tomlin, who finished her field hockey career in 2009 was a two-time all-american and a member of the USA South all-academic team every year as a Captain.

Tomlin ended her field hockey career as a defensive player with 17 goals, 9 assists and 10 defensive saves. She helped lead the team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament all three years she played for the Captains.

Tomlin graduated from CNU in May with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.

The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, community service and leadership.

In order to be eligible for the award, female student-athletes must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in their primary sport by the end of the 2010 spring season and graduated no later than the end of the summer 2010 term.

The top 10 honorees from Divisions I, II and III will be announced in September, and the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at a dinner in Indianapolis on Oct.17, 2010.
