NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
Dira Hansen (Culpeper, Va.) and
David Woodson (Hayes, Va.) were named to the 2010 Division III All-Academic Track & Field team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Hansen, a sophomore, won the 100 hurdles (1:05.51), high jump (5-1), and triple jump (37-1) and ran with the victorious 4x400 relay at the Mason-Dixon Championships this year. Woodson, a senior, led the men by claiming two titles; the 1500 (4:06.95) and 10,000 (39:13.95).
Hansen has already placed on CNU's Indoor Track & Field All-Time List in five events. She is currently third in the 800m (2:21.14), first in the distance medley relay, seventh in high jump (1.56, 5'01 ¼”), seventh in the triple jump (11.13, 36'06 ¼”) and first in the pentathlon (3100).
Woodson is ranked first on CNU's all-time list in the 3000m (8:36.10), 3000m steeple (9:10.26), second in the 5000m (14:58.88), first in the 4x800m relay, and first in the distance medley relay.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. A total of 202 male student-athletes representing 74 institutions compose the group with a total of 330 females representing 99 institutions.
