NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport University head coach
Matt Kelchner was named the 2011 USA South Coach of the Year, headlining the conference awards for the Captains this season. CNU had 18 players named to the 2011 All-Conference Teams this season, including seven on the First Team.
Kelchner collected his second straight and sixth overall USA South Coach of the Year honor, after guiding the Captains to an undefeated season in conference play. The Captains are 8-2 overall after a perfect 7-0 season in league play, capturing the program's second outright conference title.
CNU placed seven on the All-Conference First Team, led by sophomore

Derek Britt and kicker
Stephen Denuel. Denuel was third in the USA South in scoring and led all kickers with 76 points, led by 15 made field goals.

Marcus Morrast and wide receiver
Rudy Rudolph have combined for nine touchdowns in their first year. Rudolph had a CNU rookie record seven touchdown grabs while averaging nearly 75 yards per game through the air. Morrast piled up 484 total yards on the ground while also completing 6-of-7 pass attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Paul Bresnan and
Malcom Jones.
