Matt DiSalvo (+4) posted the best three-round score of his career, firing a 75 in the final round Monday to lead Christopher Newport to a 13th place finish in the Tournament Town Division III Championship Preview.
The junior leader shot a 73-72-75 in the 54-hole event, finishing with a four-over 220. It was good enough to tie for tenth individually, just ten strokes behind Oglethorpe's Anthony Maccaglia, the champion at six-under. DiSalvo ranked eighth on the Par 4's this weekend, finishing at three-over par for an average score of 4.10 after carding a par on 34 holes. He was one-over on the Par 3's and Even in the tournament Par 5's.
Only rookie
Joel Choi dropped more Pars in the Championship Preview, with 35. The freshman finished second for the Captains and tied for 40th individually after shooting an 80 in his third round. Choi (+13) wrapped up the event with a 75-74-80 line.
Wonsuk Rhee poured in one of the 11 eagles scored during the weekend, and he saved his best for last. On hole number 54, a 570-yard Par 5, Rhee posted a three and wrapped up his final round with an eight-over 80. His three-round line was 76-78-80, finishing two strokes behind teammate
Ryan Pratt at 16-over par.
Rounding out the Captains scores was
Charlie Peavley, who posted a consistent weekend with a 78-78-80, finishing tied for 71st. He showed off on the long holes at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center, shooting a team-best two-under on the Par 5's in the three-round event. He and Rhee tied for the best mark with a 4.83 average. Peavley also tied DiSalvo for the team lead with eight total birdies.

Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational held in Destin, Fla.
