Final ResultsCAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- After 54 holes of golf in Jacksonville, N.C., the Christopher Newport golf team came away with an 11th place finish at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Tournament. The Captains made the cut to play in the Championship Round on Sunday, taking on the Par 72 Gold Course for the second time in as many days.
Led by sophomore
Harry Nodwell, the Captains picked up two strokes on their second round score from the same 18 holes, finishing with a 313 in the final round. After 54 holes, Nodwell signed a 221, good for seven-over par and the top CNU mark. As a team, the Captains went 279-315-313 for a three-day total of 907 (+51).
On Sunday, Nodwell led all CNU scorers with a 76, just one stroke off his Saturday score of 75. Sophomore
Charlie Peavley picked up six strokes on his Saturday score of 83 by posting a 77 on day three, one stroke back of Nodwell. Junior
Patrick Johnson was six-over in the championship round and rounded out a 68-77-78 performance to finish just two shy of Nodwell's tournament score with a 223.
Sam Robinson was the last score of the day on Sunday, finishing with a 10-over 82. All five CNU golfers finished at 25-over or better, and the team tied for 11th just one stroke behind Averett with a 906 for 10th place. Randolph-Macon rounded out the top five, just 14 strokes ahead of the Captains.
