NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Eight members of the Christopher Newport track & field teams have earned a spot in the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will begin on May 21 at St. Lawrence's Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex in Canton, New York.

CNU will send a pair of relays to the title meet, while five Captains will also compete in individual events. The women will be represented by Enuma Ezenwa, Logan Harrington, Leah Richardson, and Jennifer Westerholm, while Jordan Roach, Ryan Scott, Daulton Teaford, and Dominique Torres will compete on the men's side.

Overall, the eight representatives mark the most Captains at the national meet since 2008.

Leading the way, Ezenwa qualified for the championships in three disciplines. In addition to helping anchor the 4x400-relay, she will also take part in the heptathlon and 100-hurdles. The senior standout qualified 15th in the combined event after posting a school-record 4,509 points during the New Captains Classic. The CAC Co-Track Athlete of the Year also earned a bid in the 100-hurdles after posting a 14.50 clocking last week at Ohio Wesleyan. She is seeded 17th overall in that event.

Westerholm and Harrington will join Ezenwa for the second straight year at the national championships. Along with competing in the 4x400, Westerholm earned a spot in the heptathlon after qualifying 17th with a score of 4,448 during the Ron Althoff Final Qualifier. Meanwhile, Harrington returns in the 800 after placing 17th last season. The sophomore speedster is seeded 11th this year after breaking the CAC record with a time of 2:10.77 during the Virginia Grand Prix on May 8.

Rounding out the women's relay, Richardson will join the other three in the 4x400 once again in 2015. Together, the foursome qualified 16th with a time of 3:49.81 during the Salisbury Elite Final Qualifier on Friday. In 2014, Richardson, Ezenwa, Harrington, and Westerholm finished 10th in the nation with a time of 3:51.55 at last year's championships.

On the men's side, Torres returns for his third straight outdoor title meet. The junior has been one of the nation's leaders in the triple jump since his freshman campaign. This year, he enters the Championships seeded 13th with a distance of 14.59 meters. Last year, he was the runner-up and earned All-American honors with a 14.89-meter effort. He also placed 18th as a freshman.

Also earning a return trip to the nationals, Teaford enters the competition seeded 15th in the 200. The senior posted a season-best time of 21.52 during the Ron Althoff Final Qualifier last week. Previously, he earned All-American honors in the event after finishing fifth with a time of 21.26 as a sophomore in 2013.

A pair of freshmen will join Torres and Teaford on the men's 4x100 relay as Roach and Scott helped the foursome qualify 12th with a time of 41.29. Successful individually as well, Scott finished the year ranked among the top-40 in the 100, 200, and 110-hurdles, while Roach just missed earning a bid in the latter event after posting a time of 14.64 in the hurdles. That time ranked 21st in the NCAA.

Action will begin on Thursday as Ezenwa and Westerholm will start the heptathlon at 1 p.m., while Teaford will head out for the prelims of the 200 at 5:05. Additionally, the men's 4x100-relay will compete in the prelims at 3:30 p.m., while the women's 4x400-unit will run at 7:40.

On Friday, the heptathlon will wrap up with the final three disciplines starting at noon. Ezenwa will also compete in the 100-hurdle prelims at 5:15 p.m., and Harrington will look to qualify for the 800 finals at 6:45.

On the last day of the Championships, Torres will open up action in the triple jump on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The men's 4x100 finals are at 1:20 p.m. and the 200 is at 3:55. For the women, the 100-hurdle finals are at 1:55, the 800 is set at 2:55, and the 4x400-relay caps off the day at 4:50.
