NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport men's basketball team will begin NCAA Tournament play on the road Friday. The Captains, riding a 19-game winning streak, will travel to Swarthmore, Pa., to take on Morrisville State (NY). The game time is set for 6:00 p.m..

CNU is 25-2 and coming off regular and post-season championships in the Capital Athletic Conference for the second straight season. The Captains will take on the Mustangs of Morrisville State, 22-6, for the first time ever.

Also traveling to the host school Swarthmore College (22-5) will be Staten Island (21-6). They will meet at 8:00 p.m. Friday night, and the winners will advance to play at 7:00 p.m.on Saturday.

The 64-team bracket was released early Monday afternoon. CNU is one of 43 schools to receive an automatic bid, with 21 at-large bids filling out the bracket.

Christopher Newport, in its 50th season of men's basketball, will be advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 21st time and the fourth time in the seven-year tenure of head coach John Krikorian. The Captains advanced to the Final Four last season for the first time ever.
