Live Results

ROME, Ga. --
The Christopher Newport cross country teams will battle for a spot in the NCAA Championships on Saturday when the Captains take part in the South / Southeast Regionals at Berry College's Clara Bowl.

The women will head out for the 6k at 11 a.m. before the men take part in the 8k at 12:15 p.m. For those fans unable to attend the meet, live results will be available at BerryVikings.com. A direct link can be found at the top of this release and on the CNU schedule page.

Battling for regional supremacy, the women will face representatives from 44 other schools at the meet, while the men will take on 36 programs. The top-two teams for both the men and women will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be held on November 17 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The men are looking for their third straight regional championship after claiming the South / Southeast crowns in 2016 and 2017. Meanwhile, the women are coming off of an eighth-place showing last fall. They previously qualified for the national meet in 2014 after placing second at the regional competition.

Both squads are coming off solid efforts at the CAC Championships. The men placed second at the title meet, while the women came in third. On an individual level, eight Captains collected All-Conference accolades for their work during the competition. Monica Lannen and Joey Lightbody both earned first-team plaudits after placing third in their respective races. Clark Edwards also collected top nods and was selected as the Men's Rookie of the Year after finishing seventh at the meet.

Along with the first-team selections, Daniel Cretney, Cavanaugh McGaw, Samantha Dickerson, Logan Funk, and Jessica Lee were all second-team honorees. In addition to their work this year, Lee, McGaw, and Jason Putnam return to the Regional Championships after picking up All-South / Southeast honors for their performance at last year's competition.
