Rachel Cooke and Olivia Davis Selected to NFHCA Senior All-Star Game

NFHCA Senior Game Release

GILBERT, Ariz. --
Rachel Cooke and Olivia Davis have been selected to represent the Christopher Newport field hockey team in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game, which will be held on November 23 in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

The contest is currently projected to begin at 5 p.m. and will be held at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex. It will follow the completion of the NCAA Division III semifinal games.

With the two selections, Christopher Newport will send a pair of players to the game for the sixth time since 2007. It also marks the second straight year in which two Captains will compete in the contest after Rachael Allshouse and Brittan Muir took part in the 2018 battle.

Cooke and Davis will be joined by three other players from the Capital Athletic Conference. Lauren Hopkins will represent Mary Washington, while Jillian Hughes and Arielle Johnston were selected from Salisbury.

A starter from the very first day she arrived on campus, Cooke has pieced together an outstanding four-year career at Christopher Newport. Anchoring the midfield unit, the Vienna, Virginia native already ranks seventh in program history with 4,261 minutes of action, while her 67 starts are tied for the ninth-most by a Captain.

A consistent presence on both sides of the ball, Cooke has compiled 33 career points and stands 10th all-time with 15 assists. Meanwhile, she has been a focal point on the team's penalty corner defense throughout her career. Aided by Cooke's defensive efforts, Christopher Newport has been ranked among the top-15 nationally in goals-against-average during each of the last three seasons, including an NCAA-best 0.67 mark in 2017.

For her work on the field, Cooke is a three-time All-Conference selection and brought home All-State and All-Region plaudits during her junior campaign.

Solidifying her place among the finest goalies in program history, Davis is just the second keeper to earn a spot in the Senior All-Star Game, joining All-American Bailey Lien, who participated in the 2016 competition. A starter since the beginning of her junior season, the Ashburn, Virginia native has scattered her name throughout the history books.

Since taking over as the starter, Davis has won 22 games, marking the fourth most in program history. She also slots sixth all-time with 119 saves, while her 0.89 goals-against-average is the sixth-lowest in school history. Overall, she boasts a sterling 22-9 record and six shutouts while sporting a 1.04 goals-against-average.

A three-time CAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, Davis hauled in first-team All-Conference and All-State accolades last year while securing second-team All-Region plaudits.

Cooke, Davis, and the rest of the 14th-ranked Captains will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to No. 3 Salisbury for a 6 p.m. tilt.
