FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Capital Athletic Conference announced the Conference Women's Golfer of the Week on Thursday morning, listing Christopher Newport sophomore Shreya Ganta as the league's top player this week. Ganta helped lead the nationally-ranked Captains to a 10th-place finish at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational. 

The Captains' second year player posted three rounds at 80 or better to finish tied for 20th among the talented 95-player field. She wrapped up the 54-hole tournament at +17 with a career-low 233 (77-80-76).

Ganta scored a four-over 76 on the final day, tying for the lowest round of the season by a Captains player and just two strokes off her career best performance. 

Over the course of the tournament, Ganta was extremely efficient on the Par 4 holes, tying for the fourth best scoring average (4.25) on the eight par fours throughout the tournament. She scored three birdies in her final round and ended the tournament with 31 total pars. 

Ganta joins Erica Whitehouse as Christopher Newport golfers to collect CAC Women's Golfer of the Week plaudits this season. 

After playing the three-day tournament on the Baytowne Golf Culb in Sandestin, Fla., Ganta flew home with the rest of the Captains sporting an 80.6 scoring average through three fall events. The Captains will close out the fall portion of the schedule this weekend hosting the Inaugural VSGA Women's Intercollegiate.
