NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams will make their first home appearance of the outdoor season on Saturday when the Captains host the Blue & Silver Challenge at POMOCO Stadium.
Saturday's action gets underway with the men's hammer and women's javelin at noon. Fifteen minutes later, the women will head out for the steeplechase to open track events. Overall, both the men and women will compete in 19 different disciplines during the daylong competition.

Currently, 64 Captains are slated to compete on Saturday. Of those entered in the meet, 23 Captains are scheduled to take part in at least three events with
Victoria Neston and
Zoe Stauffer entered in four on the women's side.
Among those competing on Saturday, reigning CAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Kurt Waller will take part in the 100, 200, and 4x100-relay. He currently ranks in the top-25 nationally in both sprints, while he,
Brandon Berry,
Dainen Brass, and
Brenton Duvall combined for the 13th-best 4x400-relay clocking last week at Lynchburg.
On the women's side,
Sarah Johnson ranks among the national leaders in both the shot put and discus, while
Hannah Bowden sits in the top-50 nationally in the 100-hurdles.
Following Saturday's meet, Christopher Newport will return to action next week with the Colonial Relays, which will be hosted at William & Mary from April 4-6.
