NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The schedule is now officially set for the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Softball Tournament. The CAC released the tournament schedule Monday night, and the Captains of Christopher Newport will be hosting both Salisbury and Frostburg State this Friday and Saturday at Captains Park.

CNU, the fifth-ranked team in the country, is the number two seed in the tourney and will host a three-team, double elimination pod along with top-seeded Mary Washington. The winners this weekend in Newport News and Fredericksburg will advance to a best-of-three championship series at the higher-seeded school next weekend, May 3rd and 4th.

Keith Parr's squad, 28-6 overall and 9-3 in the CAC, will play Friday at noon against Frostburg State at Captains Park. The Bobcats are 16-18 overall and 5-7 in the CAC and seeded fifth. In the second game Friday at 2 p.m., third-seeded Salisbury (24-11, 8-4) will take on Frostburg State. The final game at 4 p.m. will feature CNU and Salisbury. The action will then continue on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

CNU and Mary Washington both finished 9-3 in the CAC, but the Eagles won the tiebreaker for top seed thanks to a doubleheader sweep over York while the Captains split their twin bill with the Spartans. The Captains swept a doubleheader earlier this year with Frostburg State, and split two games with Salisbury last Friday.
