Conner Clark Named Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- For his impressive performance in one game played last week, Christopher Newport junior outfielder Conner Clark (Chesapeake, Va.) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week. The Captains' leadoff man helped Christopher Newport put 20 runs on the board in a win against Bridgewater College. 

Clark ripped five hits in seven at-bats against the Eagles, including three doubles. ranking tied for second in Christopher Newport baseball history. He drove in four runs and scored four times to lead the way in a 20-12 victory on the road. Along the way, he added his 12th stolen base of the season, ranking 11th in the nation. 

In the game, Clark was 5-for-7 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. It was the first five-hit game of his career and raised his season batting average to .483, ranking in the top-five nationally among players with at least 50 at-bats. This season, the Chesapeake, Va. native ranks second nationally in runs scored (25), eighth in total hits (28), and 23rd in doubles (7). 

He joins Trey Hicks as Captains to earn CAC Player of the Week while rookie Conner Pennell earned CAC Pitcher of the Week honors earlier in the year.
