2020 Schedule

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
The Christopher Newport cross country teams will face an exciting slate in 2020 as the upcoming schedule features trips to some of the most prestigious meets in the nation as well as a pair of home competitions at Lee Hall Mansion.

For the fourth straight year, the Captains will kick off the season at the UMW Opener, which will be hosted by Mary Washington on September 1 at the Clift Farm Road Course. Starring at the meet in recent years, Christopher Newport swept both the men's and women's team titles during the 2017 and 2018 competitions.

Continuing the road swing, the squad will also take part in the 61st Annual William & Mary Cross Country Invitational at the Eastern State Course on September 11. Placing second at the meet last year, both the men and women also captured team titles at the competition as recently as 2016.

Among their other trips during the season, the Captains will head to the 47th Annual Paul Short Run on October 3 and the Inter-Regional Border Battle at Rowan on October 17. The Paul Short Run, which is held at the Goodman Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is one of the largest and most prestigious competitions in the country. Meanwhile, Rowan's Border Battle at the Gloucester County Dream Park has quickly grown into the biggest cross country meet in the state of New Jersey and annually features some of the top-ranked programs from around the nation.

In addition to their travels, the Captains will also host a pair of competitions at Lee Hall Mansion on September 19 and October 17. One of the finest courses in the region, Lee Hall Mansion has served as the host site of the NCAA South / Southeast Championships twice in the past decade.

Following the regular season competitions, Christopher Newport will take part in the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on October 31 and the Regional Championships on November 14. The NCAA Championships, which will be held in Terre Haute, Indiana, are scheduled for November 21.
