ASHLAND, Va. -- After an abbreviated 2019-20 season, the Virginia Sports Information Directors announced the College Division All-State Women's Golf teams on Tuesday, listing three Christopher Newport players among the ten honored student-athletes. Veterans

Shreya Ganta each garnered first team All-State accolades while newcomer
Lauren Sims hauled in second team accolades after her first season.
Both Whitehouse and Ganta are repeat selections to the VaSID College Division All-State team after the award released it's inaugural selections following the 2018-19 season. This year's awards come following a season that saw Christopher Newport play in just five tournaments due to the shortening of the spring season forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The three All-State selections led the Captains in scoring this season. Whitehouse averaged a team-low 79.4 stroke average and secured the sixth win of her career when she scored a one-over par 72 at the inaugural VSGA Women's Intercollegiate in the fall. She also added another top-ten finish when she tied for eighth at the Carnegie Mellon Tartan Invitational.
Ganta ranked second on the team with an 80.5 stroke average and, with Sims, led the team in total rounds with 10. Ganta played in all five events for the Captains in her second year, scoring one top-ten finish along with an impressive showing at the Golfweek Fall Preview. She shot a 233 (+17) at the Fall Preview event, tying for 20th out of 95 players.
Sims also played in all five events and finished the year with an 81.9 average. She tied for fifth at the VSGA Women's Intercollegiate and added a pair of 29th-place efforts in her first season. She signed for a season-best 76 (+4) at the Golfweek Fall Preview en route to a 21-over finish in the 54-hole event.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
