CNU Women's Soccer Star Haley Eiser Named Scholar All-Region Selection for Second Time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the second time in her storied career, Christopher Newport University goalkeeper Haley Eiser has been named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region selection. The Captains' fifth-year netminder was named to the Division III All-South Region in a release by the coaches' association after leading Christopher Newport to its first national championship.

Eiser carries a 3.70 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Mathematics. She earned second team Scholar All-Region honors as a junior and collects first team plaudits in her fifth year. She joins only Gabby Gillis and Carson Pokorny as players to earn multiple selections in her career.

One of only two goalkeepers selected in the South region, Eiser put the finishing touches on a staggering career between the pipes for Christopher Newport. Over three years as the starter, Eiser played in 67 games and finished her career with a record-breaking 54-4-4 overall record. She owns the single season and career records at Christopher Newport for goals-against average, save percentage, wins, shutouts, and minutes played.

This season, Eiser was in goal for 22 of Christopher Newport's record 23-game unbeaten streak on route to the national championship. She earned third team All-Region and second team All-Conference honors before also being named to the NCAA Championship's All-Tournament Team. Punctuating the finest season in program history, Eiser made a season-high seven saves against No. 1 TCNJ in the national championship game to cap a stellar run through the postseason with five shutouts and just one goal allowed in six games.

The Richmond, Va. native finished the year with 67 saves to lead the nation in save percentage with a program-record .931 mark in 2021. She also finished second nationally in goals-against after also setting the CNU standard with a 0.23 average. In 22 games played, Eiser finished with 14 solo shutouts, a single season record.

Over the course of her career, Eiser finished with a 0.49 GAA and .872 save percentage, obliterating the previous marks set by a CNU goalkeeper. She is the first player to eclipse 50 wins in her career and also recorded 32 shutouts for a near 50% shutout percentage over the course of her tenure.

Equally as impressive in the classroom, Eiser is a four-time Academic All-Conference pick and will graduate with a degree in Mathematics.

The Captains' goalkeeper helped Christopher Newport post a 22-0-1 undefeated record and win the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer National Championship.
