Captains Collect 12 All-Region Awards as Christopher Newport Track & Field Headlines USTFCCCA All-South / Southeast Team

NEW ORLEANS -- The Christopher Newport track & field teams hauled in 12 total All-Region awards as the Captains were well-represented on the All-South / Southeast team, which was announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Friday afternoon.

Leading the way, Kaitlyn Ardrey and Alyssa Roach both secured two awards apiece. Roach recorded the region's top score in the heptathlon after posting a PR of 4,167 at Mount Olive last week. The second-year star also added the second-fastest clocking in the 100-hurdles after throwing down a time of 14.48 on Thursday at the Rowan Final Qualifier.

Along with Roach, Ardrey collected a pair of honors in distance events. She ranked fourth in the region in the 1500 after posting a time of 4:45.40 during the Emory Final Qualifier. She also established a school record in the 5000 after clocking in at 17:48.61 during the Colonial Relays. That shaved nearly a second off the previous program standard and placed her fifth in the South / Southeast this year.

Rounding out the women's honorees, Zoe Stauffer ranked third in the heptathlon (3,990), Peyton Blanding was fourth in the pole vault (3.41 meters), and Mazie Clark was fifth in the shot put (11.90 meters).

On the men's side, CJ Reeders ranked first in the South / Southeast in the triple jump after landing a distance of 14.87 meters at the Rowan Final Qualifier. That effort established a new PR and moved him to seventh on the school's all-time performance list. It also topped the second-best mark by an athlete in the region this year by nearly two feet.

In addition to Reeders, Nick Tolarchyk ranked fifth in the South / Southeast in the steeplechase after completing the race in 9:37.89 during the Charm City Invitational. Meanwhile, three Captains secured All-Region honors for their work in the decathlon. Jack Armel stood second in the region with a score of 5,521, while James Baptist was fourth (5,182), and Riley Park was fifth (5,150).
