FAIRFAX, Va. -- Jack Armel won the heptathlon while vaulting up the program's all-time charts in the combined event with a tremendous showcase during the Patriot Games at the George Mason Field House in Fairfax, Virginia.

During the heptathlon, he registered a total score of 4,071, which stands as the third-highest mark in program history and the finest effort in over seven years. It also shattered his previous PR by nearly 200 points and placed him in the top-20 on the national charts.

Wrapping up the meet with an impressive performance, Armel pieced together a remarkable effort while winning all three disciplines on Saturday. In the pole vault, he topped 4.25 meters, which equaled the second-highest clearance in the conference this season, only trailing his own 4.40-meter mark at the Holiday Open in December.

Meanwhile, he also placed first in the 60-hurdles with a time of 9.30 before running away with the 1000 in 3:06.36. That beat the next closest competitor at the meet by nearly seven seconds.

In addition to his work on Saturday, Armel was equally dominant during the first four events on Friday. In the 60, he matched his PR with a time of 7.87. He also established new indoor bests in both the long jump (5.92 meters) and high jump (1.70 meters). Rounding out the seven-event gauntlet, he posted an 8.37-meter heave in the shot put.

Along with Armel's efforts, Alyssa Roach and Baylee Hodson both competed in the first four events during the pentathlon on Friday. Among their highlights, Roach set a new PR in the shot put (8.26 meters), while Hodson matched her PR in the high jump (1.35 meters).

The Christopher Newport track & field teams will return to action on Sunday when the Captains host the Vince Brown Invitational at the Freeman Center.
