SANDESTIN, Fla. -- Powered by a commanding victory at the NCAA DIII Championship Preview, the Christopher Newport men's golf team has shot up to No. 1 for the first time in program history, according to the GolfStat Team Rankings. The Captains will look to continue the dominant start to the 2022-23 seaason this week as they take on another talented field at the Golfweek Fall Invitational in Florida.Â
The most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll listed the Captains as the No. 5 ranked team in the nation, but that ranking was released on September 30 just before an impressive 54-hole win at the Championship Preview for CNU. Senior
Alex Price sailed to individual medalist honors in the tournament, and has also climbed in the GolfStat Player Rankings.
