For those fans unable to attend the meet, live results will be available at RowanAthletics.com. A direct link can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.
Saturday's meet will pit the Captains against some of the top cross country programs in the nation. The women's race will feature six teams ranked in the top-35, including No. 1 SUNY Geneseo and No. 4 Johns Hopkins. Meanwhile, the men's competition will also include six nationally-ranked squads with No. 6 RPI and No. 7 Johns Hopkins headlining the action.
Overall, nearly 50 teams will take part in the star-studded meet. Fittingly, Christopher Newport enters the competition with its own impressive résumé. Both the men and women are currently ranked fourth in the NCAA South Region.
The Rowan Border Battle will continue a stretch of top-flight meets for the Captains after both squads excelled at the prestigious Paul Short Run on September 30. Facing a field littered with nationally-ranked competition from all three levels of the NCAA,
John Vogel posted a time of 25:22.0 at Lehigh's Goodman Campus Course. That marked the 14th-fastest clocking in program history.
Along with Vogel,
Nathanael Ferrante moved to 22nd on the school's all-time charts with a 25:29.8 mark, while
Daniel Ferrante jumped to 23rd after finishing in 25:34.5.
Meanwhile, the women had four runners enter the program's top-40 in the 6k at the Paul Short Run. Freshman
Megan Smith climbed to 32nd in school history with a time of 23:38.2. Meanwhile,
Eliza Dana moved to 33rd (23:39.1),
Lex McGrail jumped to 35th (23:43.9), and
Adalyn Perez vaulted to 37th (23:49.8).
In addition to the history-makers,
Madi Rawlings just missed her PR while leading the team with a 23:17.8 clocking.
Following this weekend's action, Christopher Newport will begin championship season on October 29 when the Captains take part in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference title meet at Salisbury.
