Mackenzie Wright was named a Third Team All-American as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday. Sammy Carroll was named an honorable mention as well.

Wright led the Captains in both kills (351) and blocks (115) this season, all whilst hitting a team leading .320. Her season high was 18 kills in a four set win over Randolph-Macon and she had double-digit kills in four of CNU's six postseason matches. Wright ranks in the program's top 10 in total blocks, solo blocks, and hitting percentage.

Carroll finished the season with 1266 assists, the most in her career and the sixth-most in school history. She also added 305 digs, 53 blocks, and 42 service aces. Carroll averaged 9.45 assists per set and posted a season high of 54 assists in the win over Randolph-Macon. She ranks fourth all time for Christopher Newport with 3754 assists after playing three seasons with the Captains.

It's the fourth honor this season for both Wright and Carroll, who were previously named to the Coast-to-Coast Conference All-Conference team, the AVCA All-Regional team, and the NCAA All-Regional Tournament team.

Wright received her first AVCA All-American honor after being named an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention in 2021. She's the first Captain to make one of the three AVCA All-American teams since Briana Sutton and Rachel Conway in 2015. Carroll receives her third straight AVCA All-American honorable mention, the first Captain to do so since Hannah Miller in 2016.
