Captains Sailing Finishes Fourth in the Washington College Team Race

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Christopher Newport posted a 6-9 overall record to capture fourth place at the Washington College Team race this weekend, picking up wins against Cornell, Princeton, and Washington College. 

CNU opened the even with the first of two wins against cornell while posting a 1-4 overall record. The second time around, CNU improved to 2-3 with wins against Princeton and Washington College. Finally, CNU flipped that mark by taking three of five with wins against all three of the aforementioned programs. 

In the final match with Princeton, the Captains put together it's most dominant finish of the weekend with a 1-2-3 finish against the Tigers. 

Seven different sailors competed in the event for Christopher Newport. In one boat, Luke Hayes and Julia Burns sailed together for all 15 bouts, as did David Grace and Ellie McFall. In the third boat, Brian Fox served as skipper for all 15 matches, with Kiara Templeton and Alexandria Brooks joining as crew. 

Christopher Newport will return to action next weekend as they host the Hanbury Trophy from March 26-27.
