WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- With uncooperative winds, the fleet at the 2022 William & Mary Spring Open managed to complete just five races over the weekend, but Christopher Newport took advantage of the opportunity to capture it's first win under head coach
Dreugh Phillips.
The Captains finished in first place in all five races in A division, posting a perfect 5 points.
David Grace and
Ellie McFall sailed in that boat for Christopher Newport, who picket fenced the regatta with all 1's on the leaderboard.
The B division boat finished tied for third and settled for fourth after a tiebreaker with 17 total points.
Gail Schneider and
Shelby Svilich finished with one bullet and two top three finishes.
As a team, Christopher Newport finished with 22 points to beat out Maryland by five. Virginia, William & Mary, and Virginia Tech rounded out the top five in the event.
