NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For just the second time in program history, three Christopher Newport women's basketball players hauled in All-Region honors as D3hoops.com announced seniors
Hannah Orloff,
Gabbi San Diego, and
Camille Malagar collected the annual award. Orloff capped her career as a first team All-Region selection while San Diego hauled in second team honors and Malagar was a third team pick.
The 2025 All-Region honorees tied a program record for the most in a single season as they join only the 2022 selections in Christopher Newport lore when Sondra Fan, Anaya Simmons, and Natalie Terwilliger were each picked as All-Region. It is the first All-Region certificate for each of the three CNU players earning the award this season.
Orloff is the fourth player in the last ten years to earn first team All-Region honors joining Fan, Simmons, and Sam Porter. The Captains' senior forward from Howell, N.J. earned the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was also named the C2C Defensive Player of the Year. She enjoyed a career-year across the board, setting career highs in nearly every statistical category.
The Captains' senior leader played in 27 games with 18 starts and averaged 8.3 points and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game. She added 61 blocked shots for an average of 2.3 per game and had 32 steals as a defensive force in the paint for Christopher Newport. Equally as formidable on the offensive end, Orloff knocked down 59.3 percent (83-140) of her shots from the field including burying the lone three-point attempt of her career. Over the course of the season, she made history as the first CNU player to capture five C2C Player of the Week certificates in a single season, tying the conference record. She was also only the third player in conference lore to win three Player of the Week selections consecutively.
Over the course of her career, Orloff piled up 148 career rejections and moved up to fourth on the all-time list at Christopher Newport and her 61 blocks rank ninth most for a single season. Orloff ranked in the top-20 nationally in Division III in both blocks and blocks per game (2.26). She finished shy of the 100 field goals made to qualify for the record book, but her field-goal percentage would rank as the fourth highest mark in program history.
Joining her on the All-Region squad is fifth-year point guard
Gabbi San Diego as a second team selection. While working around a mid-season injury, San Diego managed to appear in 22 games with 15 starts for CNU in her final season. She averaged 5.5 points and 3.0 assists per game and led the team in total assists for the fourth straight season. The Lorton, Va. native dished out 361 career assists and finished her tenure ranked sixth all-time at CNU.
One of the most reliable point guards in the country, San Diego ranked second nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.87). She recorded a season-high nine assists twice including against nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins in a neutral site game and at home against Penn State Harrisburg. She was also impressive from the free-throw line, knocking down 29 consecutive free throws while missing just twice from the stripe for a 94.1 percent performance (32-34).
Rounding out the All-Region selections in 2025 is third team pick
Camille Malagar as the Elkridge, Md. native piled up over 750 points in three seasons as a starting guard. This season, she scored a team-high 10.5 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent (108-243) from the field. She also led the Captains in three-pointers made with 29 and went 27-for-28 from the free-throw line (.964).
Her efficient shooting and scoring prowess helped her earn the Conference Player of the Week selection twice this season. She scored in double figures in her final seven games of the season including both games in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament as she went on to collect MVP honors. She finished with 10 or more points in 15 games with a season-high 17 points twice against Johnson & Wales and at Salisbury in the regular season finale.
The three All-Region picks helped lift the nationally-ranked Captains to a sixth consecutive conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Christopher Newport closed out the season with a 26-2 overall record. San Diego, Malagar, and Orloff, along with fellow seniors
Hannah Kaloi and
Alexia Lindsey, will leave a legacy as the winningest senior class in program history with a 110-6 overall record for a 94.8 percent winning percentage.
