TEMPE, Ariz. -- The most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings list Christopher Newport women's tennis No. 32 in the nation, dropping two slots in the most recent poll. Senior Raine Weis and sophomore Kylie Schaefer also slipped two spots and are ranked No. 9 in the national doubles rankings while Weis is now ranked No. 19 on the singles list.

The ITA Team, Singles, and Doubles national rankings were released on Wednesday, April 30 and will be updated on May 7, May 14, and again in the final rankings on June 4.

Last week, Weis and Schaefer established program records with the highest national rankings in program history. The duo still boast one of the top rankings ever recorded in Christopher Newport history with their spot in the top-10 on the doubles chart and Weis' recognition as a top-20 singles player.

The Captains were off last week and the rankings were influenced by other teams continuing play. Christopher Newport will be back in action this weekend as they host the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championship starting on Saturday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m.

Weis and Schaefer are 14-4 this Spring, all at No. 1 doubles, marking the seventh most victories on the top line by any tandem in program history. The CNU duo are still the second-ranked team in the Atlantic South region. In singles play, Weis held at No. 4 in the region, after carrying an impressive 16-4 record in singles play during her senior season.

As a team, the Captains maintained their position at No. 2 in the Atlantic South regional rankings.
