Ashton Legum was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday afternoon and became the fifth different CNU player to garner the recognition in 2024-25. Legum helped the nationally-ranked Captains secure a pair of wins against Averett University and Hardin-Simmons University during the week.
Legum joins
Edvard Porsmyr Hansen (x2),
Vincent Truong,
Ryan Monroe, and
Rainer Christiansen as CNU men's tennis players to be recognized as the league's top player of the week. He earned his second career certificate after going 4-0 in his matches against Averett and Hardin-Simmons.
The senior team captain paired with
Vincent Truong at No. 1 doubles for a 6-2 win against the top tandem from Averett before also capturing a 6-0 win against the Hardin-Simmons No. 1 pairing.
In the match against Averett, he played at No. 4 singles and earned a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 1-0 (10-8) win over Prabjeet Chandhok. Then, he moved up to No. 2 singles against Hardin-Simmons and cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win against Zach Fowler.
Legum has won at each of the top four lines of singles play this season including a 6-1 record at No. 4. His win over Fowler was the first at No. 2 in 2024-25. For the season, he has captured 11 total wins including nine in duals.
CNU, sporting a 10-5 overall record, will return to action this weekend with matches at Haverford (April 12) and Swarthmore (Apr 13).
