2006 Freshman Season:
A first team all-USA South choice in his first season at CNU. Also a member of the championship
meet team after running fourth at 28:34. He was also fifth at the Marlin Invitational in 27:58 and 46th at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional with a time of 27:49. A Dean's List student in the Fall semester and a member of the USA South all-academic team.
At Hickory:
Ran three years of cross country and track and was All-State in the 800 meters, a three-time All-District and
All-Region selection and team captain in track and cross country. He was also on the Dean's list in the spring of 2006.
Personal:
Kyle Christopher Oakes was born Feb. 4, 1987 in Chesapeake, Va. and is a Biology major. He is the son of Kevin and Kelly Oakes and has a brother, Kody, 17. Kyle was in the National Honor Society, the Key Club and was on the Dean's List. He transferred from Coastal Carolina where he ran on the cross country team.
