USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
NEW ORLEANS -- The Christopher Newport cross country teams were both slotted in the top-10 of the USTFCCCA South / Southeast Regional Rankings as the men earned the No. 7 spot in the preseason poll, while the women were positioned 10th by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Last year, the men's team wrapped up the 2018 campaign by finishing fifth at the Regional Championships. Meanwhile, the women capped off the year with an eighth-place showing at the competition.
Entering 2019, Emory claimed the top spot in the South / Southeast Rankings on the women's side, while Centre, Washington & Lee, Trinity, and Berry rounded out the top-five. The men's poll was headlined by Berea with Emory, Washington & Lee, Rhodes, and Lynchburg following close behind.
In addition to receiving high marks in the regional rankings, Christopher Newport was also slotted second in the Capital Athletic Conference Preseason Polls, which were released by the league office last week.
Led by first-year head coach
