Vince Brown Invitational: Live Results

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --
The Christopher Newport track & field teams will kick off a busy three-day stretch on Friday at the Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track before coming home on Sunday for the Vince Brown Invitational at the Freeman Center.

The Captains will return to the prestigious Camel City Invitational for the fifth straight year. One of the top meets on the East Coast, the Camel City Invitational features some of the finest athletes from all levels of the NCAA in a competition at the Southeast's premier indoor track & field facility. Currently, 27 student-athletes are scheduled to represent Christopher Newport at the meet.

For those fans unable to attend the two-day competition in Winston-Salem, live results will be available at the JDL Fast Track website. A direct link is available at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Following the Camel City Invitational, Christopher Newport will return home on Sunday for the Vince Brown Invitational. Field events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., while track disciplines will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Live results will be available at CNUsports.com.

Entering the weekend, Christopher Newport stands among the top squads in the region. Both the men and women sit sixth in the South / Southeast rankings. Meanwhile, on an individual level, CJ Reeders is 11th in the nation in the men's triple jump, while fellow freshman Alyssa Roach is 37th in the women's 60-hurdles.

In addition to the nationally-ranked competitors, several Captains also sit among the elite performers in the Capital Athletic Conference. Jason Putnam leads the league in the 3000, while Sam Johnson boasts the CAC's top weight throw. Among other top contenders on the men's side, Riley Park is second in the conference in the high jump, while Perry Spring, Ian Dors, Stephen Lengel, and Cooper Albright teamed up on the second-fastest 4x400-relay clocking.

On the women's side, Monica Lannen is second in the league in the mile, while Kayla Forosisky is second in the 60. In field events, Lauryn Helstrom has the second-best high jump clearance among conference competitors.

After this weekend, Christopher Newport will return to action with the CAC Championships beginning on February 21 at the Freeman Center.
