In the women's 3000, Funk posted the top time by a Division III competitor on Saturday after crossing the line in 10:32.91. That obliterated her previous PR and marked the fifth-fastest raw clocking in program history. It also moved her to first on the conference leaderboard in 2022.

John Vogel also climbed to the top of the league in distance events on Saturday. Edwards finished the 800 in 1:59.11, Ferrante wrapped up the mile in 4:20.59, and Vogel completed the 3000 in 8:46.49. All of those times rank first among conference competitors this year.
In addition to the league-leaders,
Cooper Albright posted a time of 2:00.56 in the 800, while
Brenton Duvall added a 2:02.37 mark. Meanwhile,
Nick Tolarchyk (8:57.99) and
Eric Speeney (9:13.83) ran alongside Vogel in the men's 3000, while
Logan Warden threw down a time of 10:46.16 in the women's race.
Rounding out the competitors on the track,

Luke Miller (4:26.23) and
Nathanael Ferrante (4:30.89) excelled in the men's discipline.
As the distance runners were lighting up the track, Reeders continued to star in the triple jump. During the meet, he landed a distance of 13.61 meters, which bested the runner-up by over two feet.
Christopher Newport will return to action on Sunday when the Captains take part in the Richard Drake Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
