NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport men's tennis team was back in action on Saturday as the Captains hosted the CNU Invitational.

CNU was led by its performance in doubles action as the Captains won all six doubles bouts on Saturday. Depth was on display as six different tandems picked up wins for the Captains against Salisbury and Batten. 

In singles, the Captains were equally as impressive with wins in 12 of the 13 total matchups. Rainer Christiansen defeated Sebastien Muller (Batten) by a score of 6-3, 7-5 while Gabe Smith added a win over Lucas Pham (Salisbury) by a score of 7-5, 6-4. 

Ivan Ceric, Andrew Kinnear, David Garcia Carrasco, Anderson Fortney, and Jackson Gratwohl each picked up wins against the Sea Gulls. Versus the Marlins, Jamison Wallace, Matthew Ornoff, Sam Halvorsen, Preston Green, and John Lee joined Christiansen in the win column for CNU.
