Live Results

LEXINGTON, Va. --
For the first time this season, the Christopher Newport track & field teams will test their skills on the road as the Captains are scheduled to take part in the Keydet Invitational beginning on Friday at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington.

The two-day meet is slated to start at 1 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's action begins at 10 a.m. Live results will be available for both days at VMIKeydets.com. A direct link can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport is one of 12 schools currently scheduled to compete during the invitational, including six Division I programs. Overall, 38 Captains are entered in at least one event this weekend.

Among the standouts with busy schedules, Cooper Albright, Brandon Berry, Brenton Duvall, Stephen Lengel, and Perry Spring are slotted in four different events on the men's side, while Adrianna DeSantis and Casey Yenyo are equally booked for the women's squad. Over half of the Captains are presently slated to compete in at least two disciplines during the multi-day meet.

The Keydet Invitational will serve as the squad's first road competition of the winter after opening the year with a pair of meets at home. Christopher Newport was last in action on Saturday when the team won 12 events during the Captains Invitational at the Freeman Center.

Headlining last week's action, Daniel Fox threw down a time of 6.94 in the 60, which moved him to 24th on the national charts. Meanwhile, Logan Funk jumped to 45th in the NCAA after capturing the women's mile in 5:24.22, and John Vogel rose to 37th in the men's 5000 with a 15:31.56 clocking.

For their work, Fox and Funk were honored as the Coast-to-Coast Conference Track Athletes of the Week. Additionally, Amir Siders and Abigail Honeycutt were celebrated by the league for their performance in the field events. Honeycutt moved to first in the conference in the shot put after unloading an 11.32-meter heave during the Captains Invitational, while Siders added a 14.82-meter launch in the weight throw, marking the longest toss by a Captain since 2018.

Following this weekend's action, Christopher Newport will continue its road swing with a trip to George Mason next Friday for the start of the Patriot Games in Fairfax.
